Manuscript

A manuscript should include (1) title page, (2) abstract, (3) main text with notes, references, and appendixes.

Title page

1) Full title and key three to six words

2) Each author’s full name and institutional affiliation(s)

3) Corresponding author (name, address, phone, email)

4) Acknowledgments or funding information

Abstract

The abstract should be 300 words or less and should not include authors' names or any other identifying information.

Blinded Manuscript

The manuscript should not include the title page, authors' names or affiliations, or other identifying information.

Manuscript Submission

• Please transmit all manuscripts electronically through JPS’s submission website.
• Other questions regarding submission and editorial matters should be e-mailed to JPS Graduate School of Public Administration Seoul National University, Main Campus, 1 Gwanak-Ro, Gwanak-Gu, Seoul 08826, Korea. E-mail: jps@snu.ac.kr.
• All manuscripts, double spaced, should be no more than 10,000 words, including the abstract, footnotes, references, tables, and appendices, and should be set in Times New Roman, 11-point.
• Each manuscript will undergo a double blind peer review.
• We will not review manuscripts that are currently under review for publication or that have been previously published. Since JPS emphasizes and publishes original research and scientific evidence, authors should not submit articles already published or forthcoming in other academic journals and books.

Abstract

• The abstract should clarify the research question and purpose, research method or data, key findings, and implications within one paragraph of 300 words.
• The significance of the research question should be specific in relation to previous research.
• The research and data analysis method should be clarified.
• Concise research findings should be discussed with implications.

Manuscript Formatting

Tables

Be parsimonious in the use and design of tables. Provide only data relevant to the textual argument. Use headings and communicate the argument under discussion. Avoid designing tables so wide that they must be printed at right angles to the normal reading position. Tables must be numbered and titled.

Figures

Rough drawings of figures are acceptable upon submission. All illustrations and figures if accepted must be provided to us camera-ready.

Footnotes

A substantive idea that seems worth presenting in a footnote is usually worth presenting in the text. When inclusion in the text proves difficult, that is a strong argument for dropping the point. If you decide that you must include certain ideas as notes, number them consecutively and place them at the bottom of the page.

References

Include a complete list of references the end of your manuscript in the following format. Please note the omission of quotation marks for article titles and the use of sentence-style capitalization in both article and book titles (but headline style for journal names) in these references.

• Arrange the list in alphabetical order by author; for more than one publication by an author (or coauthors), arrange by publication date with the earliest publication first.
• Citations in the text and in notes should appear in parentheses and contain author name(s), year of publication, and page number (where quoted or more specific reference): (Smith, 1949, p. 385).
