Journal Practices

7. Publication ethics and related editorial policies

JPS fully adheres to the COPE guidelines (https://publicationethics.org) and strongly encourages all authors to observe ethical policies and standards for scholarly publication. JPS does not accept any manuscripts that include plagiarized content, fabricated and/or manipulated data and analysis, inappropriate authorship, financial and non-financial conflicts of interest that distort research ethics, and simultaneous submission of manuscripts to more than one journal. JPS does not tolerate any plagiarism, falsification and manipulation in research materials and data, unethical authorship, and other inappropriate academic activities in the process of publication.

Our publication ethics are displayed on the Research and Publication Ethics tab of journal homepage.

In cases where the journal faces suspected research and publication misconduct, the resolution process will follow the flowchart provided by COPE (https://publicationethics.org/resources/flowcharts). The discussion and decision on the suspected cases are carried out by the Editorial Board.

8. Peer review

https://www.e-emj.org/author/policy#t2

All papers, including those invited by the editor, are subject to peer review. JPS uses a double-blind peer review process, which means that author identities are concealed to the reviewers, and vice versa, and the identities of the reviewers and authors are visible to decision-making editor throughout the review process. The editor selects reviewers based on expertise, publication history, and past reviews. During the peer review process, reviewers can interact directly or exchange information (e.g., via submission systems or email) with only an editor, which is known as “independent review.” An initial decision will normally be made within 4 weeks after the reviewers agree to review a manuscript. No information about the review process or editorial decision process is published on the article page.

All manuscripts from editors, employees, or members of the Editorial Board are processed in the same way as other unsolicited manuscripts. However, those authors will not engage in the selection of reviewers and the decision process. Editors will not handle their manuscripts even if the manuscripts are commissioned. All articles in JPS include the dates of submission, revision, acceptance, and publication on their article page.

JPS has an online submission and peer review system (https://submission.e-jps.org).

9. Access

JPS is freely accessible from the journal website (https://www.e-jps.org/) according to the Creative Commons License (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/). A free full-text service in the PDF formats is available immediately upon publication without an embargo period.
